Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, travellers are eager to experience the beauty that comes with tourism, but understanding the requirements and restrictions of the places to visit before entry is important.
Known as the home to sandy beaches and beautiful resorts, Jamaica has a region open to tourists that it calls its “Resilient Corridor.” This includes most of its coast, including popular vacation destinations like Montego Bay, Negril, and Ocho Rios, but not its capital, Kingston, or the surrounding inland areas. If you wish to go beyond their Resilient Corridor, you will be required to quarantine for 14 days on the island.
For travels on or before March 10, 2021, tourists may present a result for which the sample collection date is within ten days of the travel date. For example, if your travel date is March 10th, your sample collection date should be February 28th.

All incoming travellers are required to upload a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than five days before their arrival date (children ten and under are not required to take a test). In addition to presenting negative PCR test results upon arrival in the Bahamas, travellers must also upload their test results at travel.gov.bs to complete a Bahamas Travel Health Visa application. The Ocean Club, a Four Seasons Resort has remained open to guests, with new safety protocols in place, including temperature checks of guests every 24 hours.

Costa Rica is known for its beautiful landscape and natural parks where tourists can engage in fun activities like rafting, zip-lining, canyoning, unarguably the best place for animal lovers. Since Nov. 1, 2020, Costa Rica has allowed all countries in the world to enter by air, as long as they meet the country’s visa and COVID-19 entry requirements. A return flight ticket is needed when entering Costa Rica. It is advisable to make a photocopy or take a picture of your passport with the entry stamp to carry at all times during your stay.
Costa Rica requires every visitor to purchase travel insurance that will cover medical care for acute illness and accommodation in case of quarantine. No big celebrations are allowed in hotels and public places.

Interestingly, Mexico has fantastic food (tortillas, tacos, has the origin of chocolate), drink and festival culture (day of the dead festival); Mexico also has the second-highest number of museums in the world. Since December, planes have been taking off and landing at Cancun International Airport. It is high season in the Mexican seaside resort on the Caribbean coast. Mexico never closed its borders and is still one of the few countries in the world that does not require a negative PCR test or quarantine upon entry.

Brazil is home to beautiful carnivals, cultural expression and Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) statue. Tourists from all countries are permitted to enter Brazil under regular visa requirements; every tourist will require a 72-hour negative PCR test for Brazil’s entry. Travel insurance that covers COVID-19 is highly recommended.

Belize is known for the world’s second-largest barrier reef and Blue hole, one of the world’s renowned scuba diving sites. Belize requires every tourist to take a PCR test in their home country within 72 hours of travel. This will put you in the fast track lane at the airport. Before your arrival, tourists must book their stay at a gold standard hotel and present confirmation on arrival to Belize. In 2017, Belize was declared a top travel destination.
